The role will focus on leading, shaping, delivering and embedding our ESG strategy and plan across our global operations. You will ensure that we drive engagement internally with employees and externally with key stakeholders, demonstrating benefits that can be realised both financial and non-financial. In addition, you will improve our data governance processes and reporting standards by working closely with Finance, People and Marketing Teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic
- Devise and propose a global ESG strategy that delivers against all key UN metrics and meets our client’s social value needs.
- Influence company strategies, plans and performance measures to secure budget to deliver on our ESG ambitions.
- Provide guidance, governance and expertise across the group in the implementation of the ESG activity and initiatives.
- Be our expert on ESG-related regulatory and legislative changes across our global business; inform and educate internal stakeholders about impacts and proactively manage the implications of any changes.
- Align with our Diversity, Equality and Inclusion strategy (on internal campaigns and ensure our DI Agenda and KPIs are included within reports/submissions.
- Share relevant ESG customer, competitor, and market insights via our digital platform; foster C-Suite awareness and engagement.
Governance & Reporting
- Establish and chair a Sustainability Taskforce.
- Work with independent experts to create the ESG Action Plan aligned to key targets and provide quarterly reporting against defined KPIs.
- Create and publish reports annually covering:
- Sustainability and CSR Statements/Policies
- ESG roadmap
- Carbon Reduction Plans for Public Sector Frameworks
- Contractual Social Value commitments for customers
- Work closely with People and Finance functions to ensure carbon emissions data is captured and submitted for independent verification.
- Engage with Finance as a Subject Matter Expert as they launch new reporting standards and tools to ensure ESG reporting metrics can be captured effectively.
Create Partnerships
- Develop a relationship with relevant membership bodies and ratings agencies to raise our profile with key external stakeholders.
Customer Experience
- Lead engagement with clients, stakeholders and local communities to understand socio-economic issues and explore aspirations and opportunities.
- Project manage and deliver client ESG projects or tasks, ensuring a professional relationship and exemplary customer experience of our services.
- Develop ESG collateral as required to support customer-facing teams with customer/prospect engagement.
- Provide writing, proofreading and editing support for ESG content in competitive RFPs.
- Take part in external events, marketing activities, campaigns (e.g., in-person events, webinars and podcasts) as required to ensure our customers are aware of our ESG Action Plan and actively engaged with our efforts.
Required skills, experience and knowledge
Essential
- Experience in the development and implementation of long term ESG strategies and policies within a multinational organisation.
- Understanding of and experience in developing environmental management / carbon reduction programmes including net zero planning and implementation support.
- Strong knowledge of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, key trends, and best practices.
- Detailed understanding of data/reporting requirements for ESG frameworks Reporting to sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI / SASB / TCFD / CDP / SDGs / B Corp).
- Experience in supporting Bid Managers in responding to Social Value requirements as part of competitive RFPs, PQQs, SQs and proactive proposals.
- Conduct research to source facts, trends, and general marketplace information to support proposal development and create a joined-up narrative.
- Create and own all ESG content that will be maintained in the ESG collection within Responsive our content management system.
- Liaise with internal functions SMEs (e.g. ESG team, Sales etc.) where specific inputs are required to develop/refine content.
- Experience collating and interpreting carbon footprint data.
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
- Desire to share learning and best practices with the broader Sabio teams and Bid Management
- Understanding of risk management and internal control.

- Strong project management skills, with practical experience of planning and successfully delivering ESG projects and change management programmes.
