Infrastructure and Hardware Consultant

We are currently looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Infrastructure and Hardware Consultant to join our Hosting team.

The Hardware Consultant is a key stakeholder in the Sabio Infrastructure & Networks team, acting as the senior for their area of expertise. Collaborating with other consultants in the team to define an enterprise-grade hosting platform for Sabio’s numerous customer solutions and producing design documentation for the organizations infrastructure and networking engineers to consume and support. The role requires travel to various datacenters to complete hands-on work. 

Key Responsibilities

The Sabio Infrastructure & Networks Team is responsible for:

· Management of support and project delivery where there is hosted infrastructure and networking involved for Sabio’s private cloud customers.

· Ensuring maximum availability of service across the private cloud and supportability of the platform accompanied with proactive maintenance.

· Designing and pricing new deals and customers into the private cloud and maintaining appropriate OpEx.

· Drive automation into the operations of the team to enable capacity for innovation and strategy sessions.

The Hardware Consultant is responsible for:

· Hardware Architecture. Take solution compute, storage and component requirements and produce designs to deliver hosting within the platforms focused on hyper-converged infrastructure with accompanying costs, and present to design boards. 

· Datacenter Management. Working with our colocation datacenters to cover space, power and cooling as well as manage access.

· Physical Networking. Complete patching and cable management along with managing physical circuits, cross connects and third-party connectivity services.

· Capacity Management. Complete regular reviews of the hosted solutions and verify their requirements haven’t changed during their lifecycle and collaborate with the team on defining solutions. 

· Hardware Upgrades. Managing change control and installation of additional compute or storage hardware as appropriate.

· Vendor Management. Working on quotes and procurement with our partners, resellers, and distributors along with requesting quotes, managing purchase orders and deliveries as well as defining future roadmaps around technology strategy. Additionally, act as key stakeholder in incident management and vendor escalations for hardware partners.

· Asset Management. Ensuring that hardware is added to and managed via the asset inventory, including managing support & warranties, renewals, and decommissioning of end-of-life hardware.

· Lifecycle Management. Maintaining device firmware and ensuring compatibility with virtualization layers and software vendors for supportability.

· Monitoring. Ensure all managed devices are monitored and alerts generated for health and lifecycle and responses to alerts by the team are appropriate.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Key Skills 

· Strong planning and organizational skills to manage and schedule projects of different scales.

· Configuration and troubleshooting experience of enterprise servers, storage and networking in datacenters.

· Maintain datacenter documentation including patch schedules and asset inventories.

· Basic knowledge of AC/DC voltage and power consumption.

· Hardware knowledge from a variety of manufactures, preferably Dell and Cisco.

· Strong Interpersonal skills.  Able to negotiate with colleagues both inside and outside the business with the support of the department head.

Detail-Oriented. This position requires analytical skills and the ability to interpret information from numerous sources to prepare and present reports.
