Principal Network Engineer

We are currently looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Principal Network Consultant to join our Infrastructure & Networks Team team.

The Principal Network Consultant is the key stakeholder in the Sabio Infrastructure & Networks team, acting as a primary technical contributor to all network services Sabio offer and consumes via network-managed services on customers’ own networks, or within Sabio’s private cloud offering within our own datacenters. 

This role comes with a need for very strong technical knowledge and abilities, as well as responsibility for large areas of Sabio’s business. The Principle engineer will be responsible for developing the networks, ensuring high availability is built in from the ground up and enacting improvements to the stability, security and performance of the network.

Key Responsibilities

The Sabio Infrastructure & Networks Team is responsible for:

· Management of support and project delivery where there is networking involved for Sabio’s private cloud customers or managed networks.

· Ensuring maximum availability of service across the private cloud and supportability of the platform accompanied with proactive maintenance.

· Designing and pricing new deals and customers into the private cloud and maintaining appropriate OpEx.

· Drive automation into the operations of the team to enable capacity for innovation and strategy sessions.

· Delivering network managed services to customer networks.

The Principal Network Consultant is responsible for:

· Network Design & Architecture. Designs and plans implementation of new network solutions and improving the configuration and efficiency of existing networks. Represent as technical authority on the organisations design board for network services.

· Network Configuration. Managing change control and installation of installs, configuration changes and upgrades, ideally through automated means. Reviewing and approving technical change proposals by the team.

·       Break Fix. Participate and lead in incidents to resolve faults across the managed network estates and author to root cause documentation for major incidents.

· Physical Networking. Take responsibility for managing physical circuits, cross connects and third-party connectivity services.

· Project Delivery. Be responsible for managing delivery of internal and customer facing projects to agreed timelines and working with project managers or service delivery managers around project plans.

· Capacity Management. Complete regular reviews of the network and verify their requirements haven’t changed during their lifecycle and collaborate with the team on defining solutions. 

· Lifecycle Management. Maintaining device firmware and software versions for supportability according to health regimes, as well as collaborating with infrastructure consultants on hardware maintenance and management.

· Monitoring. Ensure all managed devices are monitored and alerts generated for health, utilization and lifecycle and responses to alerts by the team are appropriate, including procedures for alert categories.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

 Key Skills

· Strong planning and organizational skills to manage and schedule projects of different scales.
· Extensive knowledge of firewall concepts and technologies from any vendor and experience implementing and maintaining them, preferably Cisco, Fortigate, F5, Dell and VMWare.
· Extensive routing protocol experience including BGP, OSPF and knowledge of route redistribution, route-maps, and prefix lists.
· Knowledge of Software Defined Networking, preferably NSX-T.
· Network architecture experience with the ability to design new networks within existing frameworks and build business cases to improve existing.
· Maintaining documentation including connection diagrams and network diagrams, high level designs and low-level designs and knowledge base articles.
· Experience with network topology technologies, such as virtual clustering, VPN implementations, load balancers and proxies.
· Configuration and troubleshooting experience of enterprise networking technologies, including relevant tooling such as Wireshark, nmap, etc. ·       Knowledge of troubleshooting VOIP environments.
· Experience with SBCs from any vendor, preferably AudioCodes.
