Power BI Analyst

We are currently looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Power BI Analyst reporting into our Global Data Integration and Systems Manager. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of business intelligence tools, particularly Power BI, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of implementing and managing complex BI solutions.

As the Power BI Analyst, you'll primarily be responsible for the ongoing configuration, maintenance, and optimisation of Power BI dashboards and reports, while also driving data integrations and process improvements to enhance business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

 Power BI Development: Design, develop, and maintain dynamic and interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI. Provide actionable insights to stakeholders through visually engaging and data-driven presentations.

Data Integration: Oversee the integration of data from various internal and external sources to ensure a seamless and accurate flow of information. This includes the automation of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to feed into reporting systems.

Data Management and Resourcing: Demonstrate a solid understanding of data sourcing, collection, and optimization practices. Ensure that data is accurate, complete, and available for analysis, managing data pipelines and providing support for data governance.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business units to understand their reporting needs and provide data-driven solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on key metrics and performance indicators.

Reporting & Analysis: Create and manage regular and ad-hoc reports for senior management, highlighting key trends, performance metrics, and opportunities for improvement. Provide actionable insights based on analysis to support decision-making.

Data Quality Assurance: Ensure the integrity, consistency, and accuracy of data. Identify and resolve data discrepancies or issues in a timely manner, improving data reliability.

Process Improvement: Continually assess and improve reporting processes, data integration workflows, and Power BI templates to enhance performance and efficiency.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Power BI Expertise:
Strong hands-on experience in creating, managing, and optimizing Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations

Data Integration Knowledge:
Proven experience in data integration, including ETL processes, connecting to various data sources (e.g., SQL databases, cloud platforms, APIs), and ensuring smooth data flow.

Data Resourcing & Management:
In-depth understanding of how to source, collect, and manage data from multiple systems. Experience with data quality checks, governance, and ensuring that data is appropriately structured for reporting purposes.

SQL Proficiency:
Strong SQL skills for querying databases, manipulating large datasets, and integrating data into reporting platforms.

Analytical Mindset:
Ability to analyse complex datasets, identify trends, and provide clear, actionable insights to business stakeholders.

Problem-Solving Skills:
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot data issues, improve reporting processes, and resolve discrepancies in data pipelines.

Communication Skills:
Ability to present complex data insights in a clear, understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams across various functions.

Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with large datasets

Skills 
  •  Knowledge of data warehousing concepts. 
  •  Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and their data-related services.  

Essential
 
  • Report & Dashboard Creation: Ability to design and develop interactive, user-friendly Power BI dashboards and reports that provide valuable insights. 
  • DAX and Power Query: Strong knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) for creating complex calculations and Power Query for data transformation. 
  • Data Visualization: Expertise in presenting data visually using Power BI's various charting, filtering, and slicer options to convey information clearly and concisely.      Data Integration Knowledge: Understanding of how to integrate data from multiple systems, both internal and external (e.g., databases, APIs, cloud sources). 
  • ETL Skills: Ability to design and optimise ETL pipelines to automate data flows, ensuring data consistency and accuracy across different platforms.
